Bell Bottom May Have A Sequel, But With A Different Director?
Producers Vashu Bhagnani and Nikhil Advani are now planning a follow-up film to Bell Bottom with the same cast, but a different director
Though there are mixed reports on how well Ranjit M Tewari’s espionage thriller Bell Bottom has performed at the Box-Office, no doubt it has broken the post-Covid jinx on theatrical footfalls.
One now hears from a very reliable source that producers Vashu Bhagnani and Nikhil Advani are now planning a follow-up film with the same cast, but a different director.
In fact, one of the actors from the film told this writer that a sequel was in the offing. “Not just a sequel. Bell Bottom has been planned as a franchise, different stories of bravery told from the RAW’s viewpoint in each film. I think Akshay is keen on doing the theme as a series.”
The cast will be the same including Vaani Kapoor as the hero’s wife. The director, however, will change.
Bell Bottom suggests that India is not country but an “idea”. Ek soch. It’s time we stopped looking at the country and its burning problems in abstracts and tackled them headlong. The problem here is a series of hijackings.
Also, at an event - a few media persons were flown down to Surat for a special preview of his movie Bell Bottom - when Akshay Kumar was asked on a Zoom call about the sequel, he said the makers definitely would love to if they zero in on a good script.
To its credit, Bell Bottom does have a certain spin to its storytelling. The aerial shots are impressively mounted.
